Stupid $hit I See In The GYM

The gym is a never ending well of material for a sit-com or reality TV show.There are so many interesting characters doing things in the gym that range from funny to crazy to completely dangerous. One of my favorite characters at my gym is “Grunter”. No matter what this guy does, he’s gotta let the whole world know about it by screaming at the top of his lungs. From the moment he walks into the gym until he leaves, you’d swear you were listening to a terrible outtake from an American Idol audition.

Now I admit there are moments when the occasional grunt is completely warranted and even encouraged. I’m all for being intense and working hard. If you’ve got five or six plates a side on your back for a heavy squat, then by all means, be as loud as you need to be. Or you’ve just finished your final rep of dumbbell presses with 150’s? I might make an exception there too. But when you walk around the gym as if you own the place using weights that your average high school kid could lift, well that’s where I have to draw the line. Nobody needs to hear your sorry a$$ screaming through your set of triceps kickbacks with a 20lb dumbbell. If we can still hear you loud and clear over the sound of our iPod, you know there’s a problem. Do us all a favor and take it down a notch. The truth is that you’re not even training that hard at all – your antics are obviously a pathetic attempt to get attention. Pipe down buddy – and get some weight on the damn bar!

    Ha! Too funny. It is usually the dudes that come in and do nothing but arm workouts. They have these big arms and chicken legs. Don’t they understand that you have to work out the WHOLE body? Anyways, thanks for posting. I am gonna use that image that you have in a future blog post if that’s okay.
