MMA in Ontario: Global Warriors Championships

Global Warriors

Strong Athlete magazine made the trip to Hamilton, Ontario recently to cover the Global Warriors Fighting Championships. This inaugural event showcased some of Ontario’s top mixed martial arts fighters, including a great headliner between Adrian Wooley and David Harris.

The evening was action packed from start to finish with eight awesome fights. This card featured a little bit of everything for your hardcore mixed martial arts fan. Ryan Dickson applied a slick armbar on Bret Biederman to end his evening in the first round. Hamilton’s own Josh Powell cranked a vicious rear naked choke on Jason Gorney in what was easily the submission of the night. And Lyndon Whitlock put on a Muay Thai clinic against Jason MacKay, finishing him with brutal leg kicks in the first round.

Global Warriors Fighting Championships

After experiencing such a great card, It’s easy for us to see why Dana White believes Ontario is the mecca for mixed martial arts. There is so much local talent, and the crowd was very supportive. We believe the Global Warriors Fighting Championships is poised for great success in the future.

Afterward, we caught up with Garnet Ace, the president of the Global Warriors Fighting Championships, for a post event recap. Garnet is truly committed to building mixed martial arts, especially at the grass roots level. His mission is to provide an opportunity for young talent to develop as fighters and put on more exciting fight cards for the fans. Stay tuned for Global Warriors #2 later this year. Check out the interview below:
